Main Message Board / Topping Lift
December 17, 2012, 07:03:26 PM
Lesson learned:  Our topping lift broke and the boom came crashing down.  Luckily it missed everyone.  This is the original 1987 coated wire.    This may be old news to most of you, but just wanted to bring it up again.

Main Message Board / Cleaning the Rub-Rail
October 19, 2011, 06:57:07 PM
I wanted to share a project I completed about a year ago.  My rub rail made my boat look dated and dirty.  It was covered with creosote from pilings, deep mildew, and who knows what else.  I tried many cleaners and nothing worked.  I then tried acetone with fine steel wool and scrubbed.  It now looks like it did in 1987.  No stains at all.  I was afraid it may damage the rubber and fade or make it brittle.  It has been a year and continues to hold up fine & look brand new.  Much less expensive than purchasing a new one from Catalina Direct.

Has anyone ever had any luck repairing the fuel sending unit for the fuel gauge?  All wiring and gauge troubleshooting checked out OK.  Thanks

Main Message Board / Needed 3 blade prop
August 27, 2010, 04:52:51 PM
Hi, I'm looking for a new or used 3 blade prop 15x9 or 15x10 (M25 1987- 1").  Just lost a blade from my original when I was underway.  Looking for recommendations on where and who to buy this from.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.    Thanks,  Mike

Hi,

Does anyone know the thickness of the original acrylic windows?

Thanks,
Mike

All,

We mounted outdoor speakers on the mast.  The main sail cover hides them when not in use.  They can swivel to the bow or stern and sound great.  No issues with getting in the way of the running rigging.

Main Message Board / Holding Tank Repair
March 16, 2009, 08:07:16 PM
I have a small leak in my holding tank.  I have not taken the tank out to inspect the crack.  Has anyone ever repaired a leak on their holding tank with epoxy or any other compound that will last?  Please share your experiences.

Thanks,
Mike

Main Message Board / Sound Proofing
January 24, 2009, 08:29:33 PM
Does anyone have experience with "Silent Running"?  This is a sound deadening paint used in marine applications that converts sound energy into heat (+1 - 2*f).  I went to my local marine store to replace the sound proofing in the engine compartment and found this product.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

Finally breaking down to purchase an autopilot.  My choices are the new Smartpilot X5 by Raymarine or the S1 Wheelpilot (older model) that is approximately $ 70.00 cheaper.  Does anyone know the difference between the two?

Thanks,
Mike

Main Message Board / Generator Recommendations???
May 06, 2008, 07:19:04 PM
Hello,

I purchased a 1987 model a few month ago.  I am considering installing a generator to run the A/C(19K BTU- appx. 2700 watt draw @ start up).  The aft storage locker looks like the best fit.  Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike
