Sorry for your loss.  They do become excellent companions & part of the family.

Agree with other comments' looks in good condition.  I would suggest changing to the blue flexible hump hose, good way to reduce engine vibration transfer to the water lift muffler.

I have an early 86 C34 MK1 & have exactly the same glass bulkhead in the aft cabin, no aft water tank.  I've thought about use of the space & those doors look like they provide good access.

My boat initially also had a 200 liter water bladder under the after berth.  I still have it but have not reinstalled.

Derek,

What do your companionway steps look like? how many steps?

these are mine:

My boat has the extension I think Stu mentioned.  Provides easy access to the anchor.

Same situation in the Magothy River, water was 2 feet over the docks.  Some damage to the Marina but the boat survived with no damage.

I made my own doors & took ideas from many others.  I ended up using 3/4" PVC trim material which I selected instead of Starboard because it could be painted.  I painted a compass rose design on the outside & got chose to a match on the inside.  I made a single bifold door on removable hinges & did a number of measurements/mockups to make sure it fit just the way I wanted it.  I am still able to use the hatch boards because I would not trust the door in any type of weather because it not as structurally sound as the original hatch boards, it would not withstand a rush of water in the cockpit.

Pics of the project are below.

When friends have come aboard they have mentioned how the 3 step configuration seems to be a longer step than other boats but I personally like my arrangement.  It may be I'm just used to it & it provides easy access to the engine.

I have viewed many pics of the companionway but mine is a bit different.

I assume this is the original configuration since my hull # is a very early C34.

Glad to hear your trip was not dull.

Just saw your note.

Any pics or description of the color & pattern of the material on the cushions?

Thanks.

I have hull #42 & DO NOT have an aft water tank but do have both a V berth & starboard settee tank.  The boat also had a flexible bladder under the aft berth.

Most of the C34 pics I have seen have a similar step configuration.  My early C34 has a bit different setup.

I used two pieces of wood to make the bottom of the battery compartment a flat surface.
