We store and lock ours to the binnacle forward. We have a bimini and I had a binnacle cover made to cover the Binnacle and the honda 2000. We are on DarBay 3 to 6 months at a time and need our storage for other things.

When buying a boat, wether it be long or short distance. You should look at how the boat is set up and how you plan to use it.
Racing, cruising, or afternoon sailing on the lake. It can be quite expensive to convert a racing boat to a cruising boat, or vice versa. Think also about where the boat is being sailed and compare that with the sailing of where you plan on sailing. A boat with new sails that sails on a lake in Texas, may just be the bare minimum if you moved that boat to San Francisco Bay.

Stu, those are the bolts I want to replace.
I will probably bring three sets, 1/4,3/8, and 7/16. Maybe 2 1/4 inches long.

I'm in Florida, boat is in Mexico. I want to change my round head bolts to a hex head. Does anyone know what size bolt I need to bring to Mexico? Thanks in advance!
DarBay is a 1986 C34 mkI hull# 84

Rick, I have a similar setup on DarBay. Do you have a houser for your chain? We do not and the windlass drops the chain up against the aft wall of the chain locker.  Then the chain stacks up to high and we have to manually push the pile toward the center of the chain locker.  We are looking for a way to get the chain to drop in the center.  If you have a houser please post a picture. Or if anyone has a design idea please let me know

It runs our AC unit with ease, but add any other load and it's good night (overload) and the generator overload kicks off. If we screw up and, eg. turn on the battery charger, then it will shut down. I simply nip out to the cockpit (I'm most likely in the cool of the cabin even here in SoFla) turn the Generator off briefly, turning it back on before it comes to a stop, so no need to pull the starter again. Power is restored. Coolness returns.

Paul I'm going to try this trick. I always just shut it down and restarted

We like our Honda 2000. I guess it really depends on what type of sailing /cruising you do.  We are currently cruising in the sea of Cortez. We are on DarBay about  6-8 months a year. You just never know when or where you may need it.
1) we lost our fresh water pump(on the engine) on the way from San Degio to Cabo. Could not run the engine to run the alternator. We were able to keep going using the Honda to charge the batteries , hot water for showers.
2) this year we lost our exhaust riser. . It took about 6 weeks to get it back running. Because of the Honda we were able to stay out in the Anchorage ( for free ) instead of a $700 dollar a month slip.
3) ours does not fit in the port locker. We place ours just in front of the binnacle. I had a binnacle cover made to cover it.
4)we have run  an AC unit with it. I think it's 9000btu
5)we have run a heat gun, water heator, Cruise RO 20 gal per hour water maker , hair clippers.
6) it's also our backup to our inverter/ charger it that dies.
7) At first I was afraid of the noise at a quiet anchorage. But soon found out that everyone is running a generator or engine.
8) Wait until you get downwind of someone running his Diesel engine. Not a good smell
9) well worth the money.

Got ours in 2012. Well worth the money. We do not have a stack pack. We use lazy jacks.

There is a hole in the riser. About the size of a silver dollar. This is at the elbow just above the "Y" nipple It is rusted through. Working on pulling it it out.
Will get a guy here In Mexico to fabricate a new one.
We do not plan on taking DarBay back to the states for at least 2 or 3 years. So every has to be fixed here.

As a side note: we came into the anchorage under sail and drop the hook. A little nervous with other boats around. Even though we had practice before.

Took heat exchanger off, looked clean but soak it in Muratic Acid, cleaned and inspected everything from the intake thu to the "Y" nipplle. We out on a nice long run 1 hour,  Ran at 2000 rpm and temp stayed at 165.  Untilll .....
I ramped up the rpm to 2500 rpm. Then the riser started to gush. Got a nice crack near the "Y" nipple.  When it rains it pours.

I have tried to enter into the tech notes but I can't get pass the longin.  As far as I know I am a member.  Any quick suggestions on taking off the riser? I got the bolts soaking in PBLaster.

The impeller looks good. No parts missing. I have the heat exchanger off and soaking in a tube of muratic acid.

It is a M25 / with a 2 inch heat exchanger.
I do see a the coolant level move when I rev the engine.
I put in a new thermostat. I may take it out just to be sure.
Yes I have the normal amount of coolant.
