Acetone works well. Cleaned mine about 5 years ago and still look good.

Gary,  What marinas would you recommend?  Looking for something close to the beach for the kids.

Thanks,
Mike

We are considering a move to the Pensacola area.  Recommendations appreciated.

Thank you Ron!  I enjoyed and learned from many of your write ups and experiences.

Ron,  Did you use the K75's all the way around or a combination of the K50's and K75's on the front and rear?

Thanks,
Mike

Ron,  Noted your comment on the "old" engine mounts.  Will new mounts make that much difference in vibration?  If so, I just found my next project.

Main Message Board / Stack Pack for main sail

Does anyone have experience with a stack pack, mack pack, or something similar?  Considering going this route due to the fact that its time to replace the main sail cover.  Thanks, Mike

Yes. Fresh and Salt. It seems to be embedded in all the teak. We have pulled EVERYTHING out and cleaned, but the boat smell always returns.

Thank you Stu. I'll check it out.

Mregan,  Sounds like you are through the gelcoat and to the bare fiberglass. Mine did the same on the anchor locker

Opinions are also welcome. Does anyone have experience with this?  I plan on doing an experiment by measuring the metal loss on an anode with and with out the shore power plugged in.

I have '87 also with a beige deck. I used Pettit Easypoxy sandstone. It may be a slight bit darker than the original gelcoat.

Main Message Board / Electrolysis Question

Question for the electrical engineers..Lots of stray current in my current marina. Does the electrolysis potential decrease if I leave the 110 power unplugged?

This is a long shot, but does the block at the mast base have a ratchet or clutch mechanism?  I know mine does on the spinnaker halyard and will increase the tension on the line if the ratchet is engaged or if the line is run through on the wrong side of the block.
