Title: mysterious fixture
Post by: anon on May 17, 2017, 05:30:20 PM
I wonder if somebody can help me identify the fixture in the attached picture? It is in the ceiling above the aft berth.
Thank you

Its a standard access panel (screw style). Take look at at what is just above it outside. It could be access to the underside of a winch and it's bolts or something like that.

Stick your fingers into the finger cut-outs and unscrew it.

It's a  Beckson threaded deck plate. On my boat it provides access to the fasteners attaching the starboard self tailing winch to the coaming.

I agree, that's where I accessed the starboard winch nuts when replacing my winches.

Sophie : Please identify the production year of your C34!!  All C34s are not exactly alike.

It could be a Beckson screw-in port access to cover the intake to the solar vent?
I installed Beckson deck plates like that on that solar vent in the aft cabin and on the inside of the 2 dorade vents in the main salon. When the WX got cold and I needed to keep in the heat, I'd screw in the caps.  Otherwise the caps were out and stored!!
