Title: Raymarine FYI
Post by: Norris Johnson on April 29, 2003, 03:56:54 PM
Just had a phone conversation with someone from Raymarine about my Autopilot. The Control Head went out and was just displaying "garbage". I sent it to Raymarine at their request. The person I tried to talk to could barely speak English. Best I could tell, it will cost me $200 plus shipping to repair the control head. The unit was purchased from Defender 10/99. It should last longer than that. I can't find a place on their web site to complain.

Sorry, I just had to vent.

Two years ago I sent my Autohelm 4000 to Raymarine for repairs and was informed that the repairs would be $800.  I was flabbergasted.  I called the corporate headquarters and asked to speak to the President ( I did not expect to speak with him, but starting at the top is better than starting at the bottom.) and was given to a V.P. who looked into my problem and the final cost was less than $100.  Complaining usually works unless the complaint is directed toward Catalina.
