Title: Shot of the interior
Post by: noworries on November 01, 2011, 09:29:10 AM
I'm a photographer and decided to try a 360 pano of the interior of my Catalina 34.  Here's my first attempt:

Very nice.  Great idea with the "guest" on the mast.   :D

Impressive! I also expect that Catalina's marketing department would find it interesting!

That's my pirate monkey on the mast.  My next attempt will be to get more of the ceiling included so you can see the mast monkey.

How it's done?  I made my own Pano head so the lens can rotate around the nodal point (where perspective would not change)
Shot it on a Canon 5D mk II (portrait orientation) with a 16-35mm 2.8L at 16mm.  Images stitched together with Hugin.

You can also do that on many smart phone photo apps.

This is true, but you wouldn't see the same quality.  The full size image is 11252 x 3052 pixels.  I'll try it with my iphone next time I'm down there and see how they compare.
