Title: forespar combo steaming light/deck light
Post by: crieders on July 11, 2010, 07:06:59 PM
A subject people were kind enough to help with in the spring. got it to work only to be apparently damaged by the tornado (?) they claim hit Great Neck. the deck light works just find; the steaming light cap disappeared....can't get the steaming light to work now at all. Replaced the bulb; nada. Was thinking of going with new, better made (?) forespar recplacement. Are the holes in the same place as our 20 year old units?

The new Forespar units are made of plastic not metal. I was able to use the same holes when I replaced mine last year.

I changed mine last year. I used the same base that was attached to the mast and just put the new housing bulb on the old base. The wiring tested good. A word of caution. the base has 2 slots in the bottom and the housing slides into that and then pivots up over the light bulb and then you can seat it and screw it in. Holding on to the mast sitting on the bosun chair and trying to fit it for me was a challange. So much so that i dropped the first housing and had to go buy a second. You might want to assemble and disassemble the unit on the deck a few times before you get up there. I wish I had.

When you say pivots over the bulb, do you mean over the desk light.  The steaming lights is exposed once the plastic cover is removed which the wind blew off on mine.

I replaced my light in the spring.  Same hole layout as before.  Easy installation.
