Title: galley faucet washers
Post by: John Fogelgren on May 07, 2010, 02:20:13 PM
Our galley sink faucet (Grohe) drips.  Does anyone know how to replace the washers or cartridges?  The website speaks only of replacing the whole faucet.

I have not had the Grohe faucet apart yet, but faucet design is pretty standard.  On almost all faucet repair the first step is to cover the drains to prevent small parts from disappearing from view and doubling the size of the job.  Generally the knob is held to the shaft by a screw.  Check the top of the cap carefully for a plug to pry out to get access to the screw.  The valve assembly is usually screwed into the body, use a wrench to unscrew.  The washer is usually found on the end of the valve shaft held in place by a small screw.

Good luck!

John : I was told by a friend that the Grohe is a simple washer replacement and not a carterage.
