Title: Question about engine mount replacement
Post by: dcalender on March 22, 2010, 10:15:17 AM
I'm getting ready to replace my engine mounts.
There are great articles and discussions about this. I have one question I haven't seen answered in the discussions.
When installing the lag bolts is there a sealant or adhesive that is required to insure the lag bolts don't work loose?
I appreciate any input.

Yes, I found one of my lag bolts on the engine compartment floor one day.  I cut a few toothpicks in half, squirted some silicone sealant into the hole, let it set for a while, and snugged up the bolt(s).

Thanks Stu,

I thought silicone might work. I've used it to hold down counter tops to cabinets and it does a great job.

Dale : Follow Stu's instructions, but add one more thing.  Also get a lag bolts that's 1/4 -1/2" longer, especially if one can not be snugged down tight.  :thumb:

When I did mine I "wiped" 5 minute epoxy in the hole to coat the edges and let it set overnight.  Another way !
