I know this sounds silly, but where do you store the helm seat on a catalina 34 with a walk thru transom???? There are some cut outs in the bottom and it looks like it would fit on a rail, but there doesn't seem to be any space.
Any thoughts?
Since I never use mine, its in the dockbox . . .
I have mine in the basement at home. Never used it...
While at anchor, or tied up, I used to hang it from the cockpit life lines. It eventually migrated from there to the port lazarette, then to the dockbox, then home.
I am not sure if it's the same on a C34 but on a C36, the notches are there so the seat can be slotted onto the second rung of the swim step when it's folded up.
It makes a perfect backrest/seat and allows plenty of room behind the helm.
When I need access to the walk-through transom I hang the helm seat on one of the lifelines using the same notches.

It is designed to hang on the lifelines.

Thanks for all the response.

When on a mooring I hang mine on the inside of the bow pulpit and add a small safety line. I have seen quite a few using this method at Avalon and Two Harbors.
We hang ours on the second rung of the swim ladder, with a cooler underneath. It makes a great seat behind the helm for the wife.
