Title: Pro Mariner 30 Amp Charger
Post by: Steve Sayian on February 25, 2009, 07:42:32 AM
I'm looking at buying a used Pro Mariner 30 Amp charger from a friend and have seen all kinds of posts on the board about the 20 Amp model.

Can anyone tell me if the 30 Amp model has the same bad reputation as the 20 Amp model?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, I wouldn't touch anything with that manufacturer's name on it, even if I was given it for free, or even with free cash plus the equipment.  I know this isn't specific to your question about the 20 vs 30 amp units, but where there's smoke there's usually fire...  One of the reasons we keep the Battery Charger Evaluation on the top of the list is because it discusses the quality chargers available.  Since, PM, Charles, Guest and some others took ten or more years to get dragged kicking and screaming into the 20th century, to say nothing of this one, I don't have a lot of confidence in their products.  Others may chime in and say they love their units.  If they personally haven't checked them out, step by step, stage by stage, volt by volt, then I still question the performance.  If they have and they work, then I'm wrong, and get the specific model # and the year they bought it.

Stu,

Thanks for the reply and after reading more posts on the Board, I agree with your thoughts.

I'll hang on to what I've got and save my pennies.

Thanks again.

Steve
