Title: Mast paint
Post by: crieders on January 11, 2008, 04:42:08 PM
the old white mast paint is chipping, etc. Thought I'd try algripping the mast and boom. Anyone have experience in sanding off the chipping parts and doing this oneself?

Here are a couple of sources of info: http://www.c34.org/mainsheet/pdf/Nov-2001.pdf and an incredibly well-described story of a semi-professional stripping and painting job at http://www.triton381.com/projects/maintenance/mastpaint1.htm (lots of other great old boat restoration stories at this particular Pearson site as well).

I recall that Steve Lyle did his mast and boom.  Check his first year weblog at: http://c34.org/bbs/index.php?topic=663.0.  It's long, but it's in there.
