Title: Mast/coach roof tiedown bolts
Post by: Fuzzy on August 27, 2007, 05:53:13 PM
I cannot locate the two round head bolts that go into the mast to hold
the turn-buckle that prevents uplift to the cabin top.  Can anyone tell
me the diameter and thread size of those bolts.  The boat is presently
on an island out in Lake Michigan and I would like to take the bolts out
with me when I return this coming Thursday.
Thanks in advance.

Larry

Fuzzy : As I recall they are NC 1/4" about 1 " long.  They can be hex head.  Take along 5/16" NC - just in case I'm having a Senior Moment.

Larry, as I suggested on another recent thread, why not take a slew of assorted sizes and lengths with you, keep the receipt and return the ones you don't use.  Given your remoteness from the boat, and the fact that yours just may be different than others, consider trying the "assortment" approach.  Two of each, right?   :D

Fuzzy, I just pulled a bolt @ mine are 3/8-16 unc. If you use a hex head, put a flat washer on so the flats don't mark the mast when you tighten the bolt. you still may want to take extra sizes to be sure.

Thanks everyone for the information and help.  I found that it is a
3/8" fine thread bolt.
Thanks again, Larry
