Title: Put your boat on the MAP!
Post by: Philip Imhof on November 14, 2005, 12:00:31 PM
Visit www.c34..org/maps/ownerRegistryDb-map.php (http://www.c34.org/maps/ownerRegistryDb-map.php) and put your boat on the map. You will need your GPS or chart co-ordinates. You might want to also install google earth. I did and what a trip. It's great. I tried using the OpenGL method because the directX didn't work on my computer.

I'm feling kind of lonly here in the midwest.  :cry4`  Where are the rest of you midwesterners?  I know you're out there.  By the way, the satellite view is the coolest.  Though it looks like I'm ablut 100 meters off on pin plcement.  I park my boat at slip O-74 not in the middle of the channel.  :D

Ted-

I noticed a similar thing when I tried to place my boat in my slip.    Seems I keep coming up slightly off out in the Atlantic Highlands Marina channel...

I think Google Map uses a different datum than the default WGS 84 that my Garmin uses. I couldn't find any reference on the Google Map site that says what datum (of the dozens) that they're using.

I see that this thread is old so maybe this feature no longer exists but, when I try to see the map, I get this...

Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'c34org5_c34'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/c34org5/public_html/maps/ownerRegistryDb-map.php on line 473

With the new website design we consolidated several older member databases into a new tool. We no longer use this boat on the map link. We now have the owner database here

Sue,
I thought that I had my info in this database, or with the update do we have to re-enter our info?
Paul

PS:  How do I edit my info or add to the info on the database?

I had my info in the previous data base but I just re-entered it at the link Sue provided.  Strangely, someone else claimed my hull number.  Likely a typo.

Sue,

Sorry that my first contribution to this thread is a criticism but...

It looks like we are exposing people's email addresses to the broader internet.    That info should be obfuscated until someone is logged in with a validated account.

We're doing people a big disservice by exposing their email address like that.

Sue,
I believe that Braxton has a valid point about security.  Maybe it should be setup the same as the technical notes??

Or just don't show the email. We can always get in touch with each other via the message board.

I have put something in place to display the word "hidden" instead of the email address of the person.  I am still asking for the email as this is needed to let everyone self manage there own info.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my first post on this.  You do need to re-enter your info, we felt that some of the older databases where out of date and that we should just start from scratch.

Sue, I added my info to the database, it responded that it would send me an email.

I rx'd the email but clicking on the link I got this

Oops! That page can't be found.
It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try one of the links below or a search?

Go to the home page and under Association scroll down to ownersdata base and click on Sign Up.

Thanks Paul, that's what I did when I rx'd the email after signing up.

I looked at the owners database just now and it shows my listing.

There was an issue with the link in the emails being generated by the owner database system.  Those emails had an incorrect link in them.  If your link looked something like this

http://c34.org/?page_id=1778&pid=XXXX.

You can change it to this and it should work just put the pid that was in your original link in place of the XXXX in the link below.

http://c34.org/owner-edit-page/?pid=XXXX.

Sorry for the confusion.
