I am doing a lot of up-grades on the 1987 C-34 I bought last year. I have re-wired my mast electronics and several other things. I found a very corroded dyonoplate directly under my sink. What does it ground and is it still needed?
Another quick electrical question, I rewired my mast with 14 gage wire, then I found that the wires from the fuse box to the mast base are only 16 Gage. Does this make any difference. Should I replace the 16 with 14. or is it not worth the trouble.
Thanks, Jerry
Don't know about dynoplates, but there's never a problem in going to a larger gauge wire. Larger = less voltage drop over distance, the only downside is cost.
Jerry,
The dynaplate is probably left over from the Loran era your boat was built in. If it's not connected to anything, I'd take it out and fill the holes with epoxy.
