Title: Hope Island, March 19th?
Post by: Ray & Sandy Erps on March 10, 2005, 02:58:06 AM
Nutz,

We're busy with some family stuff weekend of March 12th, but if the weather is nice, we'll probably try and get out March 19th.  We like going to Hope Island in Skagit Bay.  If there is no wind, the south side of the Island has a nice place to anchor with a couple of primitive camp sites and an unlimited supply of firewood for a big camp fire.  Crab season is still closed, so we can't cook fresh crab, but we'll bring the marshmellows and graham crackers if you bring the Hershey Bars.

We went out Feb 26th to go over to James Island but ended up at Coronet Bay instead, as the float was still out for the winter.  The park ranger thought they would have it in sometime in March or April.

Ray,
We arrive back in Seattle tomorrow morning (Friday 11) and plan to go up to the boat for the weekend.  If the weather is decent we will head out somewhere.  The 19Th is out for us as we promised to go visit our son in Portland for the weekend. (Equal time you know, as we have been visiting our daughter and grand kids in DC for 4 weeks)

The March 19th weekend got washed out.  Our daughter and son-in-law were anxious to get out that weekend as well and it didn't pan out.  Rain and some high winds were forecast.  Our C-34's are roomy, but it get's a little cramped with four people down below watching the rain run down the windows.  We've missed three weekends in a row now.  Hopefully the weather will be better next weekend.

On the plus side we went to the Anacortes Boats Afloat show.  Looked at a C-42 2 cabin model and a Passport 40.  Ah, it's fun to dream.
