Title: Ice Box Organization Ideas
Post by: Kyle Ewing on June 19, 2025, 04:59:16 PM
Here's how I solved one of my biggest boat frustrations:  Ice box organization.  It drove me nuts stacking containers, taking everything out to get to something in the bottom, especially small items that fall.

I replaced the wire shelves with expanding hanging baskets and small adhesive shelves around the sides.  This leaves space in the middle for containers.  After my first weekend it meets my design goals.  It features:

The large basket holds 2 bags of ice (one bag with five cans pictured). The small one holds a gallon of milk (2 quart container and 60oz iced tea container pictured).  I put large frozen water bottles at the bottom and use a fridge fan to distribute cold air.  A frozen 1.5 gallon water bottle fits nicely under the freezer container.

Parts are from Amazon and cost around $70 for organization and $23 for fan.

Thinking "inside the box," as it were. 8)  :thumb:

Different idea than what you use here, but I saw Sailing Project Atticus (youtube) use nylong stuff sacks for things that were color coded.  It was a pretty brilliant idea in that one just needed to find the "blue" back when sifting through the box vs taking all the thi gs out till what you were looking for was found.
