Title: Lifelines
Post by: Frank Stich on October 31, 2003, 05:44:16 AM
Since my boat is an hour away and I need to buy parts to make a gate in my lifelines, can anyone confirm that Catalina used 3/16" lifelines on c34's?

Many thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank -
I just did this and have been writing it up as a Project.  Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you an advance copy. The original vinyl covered lifelines are 3/16".

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick response, and thanks for your help on previous problems, like my leaky Lewmar portholes.

I've ordered the Johnson hand-crimp parts and the $40 hand-swager.  I decided to reinforce the stachions either side of the gate with the Garhauer stachion braces instead of replacing with a gate stachion.  Garhauer's price of $27.50 each for the braces was much better than the $59 ripoff from West Marine. I'm planning to put the gate between stachions 2 and 3 on the port side.

I'd be very interested to hear what you used to put your gate together.

Thanks again!

Frank
