As part of New Owner syndrome I pulled up the galley flooring to faciliate cleaning.

I was surprised to find a water/engine oil soaked plywood sheet under the rubber flooring.

I can't see how it could ever really dry once wet.

Has anyone replaced this flooring with some type of plastic/rubber grating ?

Or maybe I should run a bead of silicone around it to prevent seepage under in the first place.

 Thanks

FYI, on my boat I have sealant around the edges of the rubber flooring.  This was present when I got the boat (from factory).  Not sure if it was an oversight but sounds like you should seal it.
